Yes, that date does sound familiar. It is the date Katy is taking her RN Boards, better known as the NCLEX. She has asked that I request for prayer as she takes this BIG test. It is a very rigorous 5 hour computer generated test, and you cannot change any of your answers once you commit. As you can see, she has been studying, studying, studying, so please pray, pray, pray!
Isn't the season of fall beautiful? You may not think we Floridians can appreciate this season as you northerners do. While it is true that I personally miss seeing the beauty of life surrendered as the trees shed their leaves, I still sense the air being a little cooler, the slant of the sun being slightly so different, and a nesting instinct preparing me for the dark nights of winter. It's as though the trees give up their leaves to mulch the ground before winter sets in with her ice and snow so that beautiful grasses and flowers can emerge in spring. Death brings life!

Today has been challenging. As I opened my kitchen drawer to take out the cups to measure ingredients for tonight's dinner, I felt the nudge to pick up these tiny little measuring spoons that Leah bought for me at Restoration Hardware a few years ago. Before I got them I had always wondered how much a smidgen or a pinch or a dash was. To tell the truth, I've never used them. forgot about them. didn't use them today either. But they were used on me: my heart was smitten by the tiny[ness] of these spoons, and that their capacity was about the same amount of myself that I have been willing to give to others over the last few days... Oh yeah, I was an involved wife, mother, friend... in smidgens, pinches, and dashes I am grateful for the attitude check, and am looking forward to making dinner tomorrow night. The recipe I have in mind calls for an ingredient which calls for my 64 oz. measuring cup!

Another surprise "gift" our family received a few days ago was some YUMMY salsa that Jenna brought over. Although it is called black olive salsa, I can hardly taste the black olives.... I did a little digital of her salsa with the recipe if you want to try it.

I am actually sitting here alone. The house is q-u-i-t-e--amazingly q-u-i-e-t!! I dropped Katy at the airport a little after 12:00 pm to board a plane to Philidelphia. She is going to visit her soul-sister, Carrie who is in P.A. (physician's assistant) school there. Her return will mark the end of her summer and "Real" life will begin in October.

Leah headed out this afternoon to go to her new English class a the local community college. I think she is going to enjoy the challenge of the class and seems to be taking it quite seriously...
Bookbag stuffed with her homework and ready to go...her professor requires a portfolio of journaling, essays--in class and out of class--and summaries and responses to various writings to be handed in at the end of the semester.
I have been working on my digital stuff....learning, ever learning....here is my latest.....
Okay....well that wraps up my day. It's off to the Teen Challenge Banquet tonight. I am looking forward to hearing the testimonies of victory!
